Erratum: It was Deputy Health Minister, not Deputy DG. 2 of them were there, and I ended up confused. Heh.
The catchphrase was - "we doctors have license to heal, as well as license to kill."
And he said that in the Dewan Rakyat. There goes an uproar!
Lesson learnt - being funny in front of the press sometimes can be headache... but the positive side is, you can be as popular as a white elephant...

BTW, one should only utter about 'license to kill' in front of medical collegues/personnels. I was there during the conference. And I would say that nobody in in the hall at that time had even slightly think of 'license to kill' as a taboo phrase. Perhaps all of us (read medical personnels) were really familiar with that phrase.
As opposed to what happen the next day, it was really a wrong act to utter that phrase in front of laymen, I would say. Somehow, misinterpretation will occur. It was a real shame that the deputy health minister was not taking into consideration that the MPs are not all doctors.
So, the moral of the story is, please avoid jargons or any words that might lead to misinterpretation. This is particularly important as far as doctors are concerned.
