Today is May 3 2005. 3 years ago, I set my foot on foreign land down under. What an adventure!Being a stranger in stranger's land, I faced humps and bumps through out my stay there. I learned a thousand things and unlearned even more. It was a good time then. And bad too. Well, nobody survives unscathed, in it?
A few names I could recall:
Halim, Naji, Syawal & family in Bateman, Pakcik Syawal and son, Kak Faridah, Ibrahim, Erry Pearson, Lisa, Singaporean & Malaysian Malay community north of the river.
David Enright, Norma Walker, Norma Williams, Hilda, Mrs Quirke, the German librarian, Doris Tan, Barbara Kelly, Mark Debowski.
Now? I'm in Dublin. The whole enviroment differs alot!
2 years ahead? Wallahu'alam if I'm still well and alive.
Updates :
2 years ago, I was on my flight to Perth to pack up my stuff, and get ready to leave for Dublin. I had to accept the fate Allah has given me - in fact, Alhamdulillah I was destined to be here! Verily, only Allah knows best for me.
Hmmm... I could recall how irony it was - we all learnt about disasters, personal growth and what not. But when we're facing the stint in real life, not many appreciate it fully and get on with it.
Some resort to put on the blame to others. Another group just turns away from the One whom they always cling on - on the ground that He doesn't love anymore. Now I wonder what is the price of our iman/belief should Allah put us into test.
It was only a flick of a test, but why some falter?
Weren't they infused by all sort of food for thought for yonks?
Open up a history book - read on about post-Liberation-of-Mecca era. Maybe the answer is there.
